§ Mr. Michael McNair-Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether his Department's inspectors will be associated in any way with the formal Norwegian inquiry into the Alexander Keilland disaster.
§ Mr. David HowellThis inquiry is entirely a matter for the Norwegian authorities. My Department is, however, naturally concerned to learn all it can from the inquiry with a view to minimising the risk of any similar occurrence 589W on the United Kingdom continental shelf. In the meantime, arrangements have been made for all semi-submersible rigs operating on the UKCS to be surveyed, and my inspectors are keeping closely in touch with the progress of the Norwegian investigations.
