HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 c446W
Mr. Ray Powell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many schools in Wales are more than 100 years old; and what help he intends giving to education authorities to ensure the building of new schools.

Mr. Michael Roberts

The information is not available but "A Study of School Building", published in 1977, estimated that about 19 per cent. of the school accommodation in Wales dated from 1903 or earlier. It will be for local education authorities to determine what replacement projects are undertaken within the school building resources that will be made available to them.
