HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 cc469-70W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) whether he intends to take steps to extend the Public Records Act 1967 to Scotland;

(2) what criteria have been adopted by his Department to justify the imposition of a 100-year closure on official documents; and whether he is satisfied with the application and nature of such criteria;

(3) what criteria his Department employs in operating the 30-year rule concerning access by the public to official documents; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Fairgrieve

I refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Security on 14 March. A comparable figure for Scotland is likely to have been about £106.—[Vol. 980, c.730–731.]
