HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 c530W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what will be the new rate for National Health Services prescription season tickets when the prescription charge is raised to £1; for what periods they will be available; and if he will arrange for them to be issued over the counter by general practice pharmacies, hospital pharmacies and post offices.

Sir George Young

The cost of "season tickets" from 1 December is under consideration.

My right hon. Friend has no plans to alter the existing arrangements for the purchase of these certificates through the family practitioner committees. The methods suggested would lead to increased administrative costs which could lead to increases in the charges for the "season tickets".
