HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 c484W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make available funds in the academic year 1980–81, apart from postgraduate work, in British universities for students from developing countries engaged in first degree courses of a development nature such as veterinary, agriculture, medicine and engineering sciences.

Dr. Boyson

Provision is being made in the academic year 1980–81 for overseas students already engaged on degree courses to continue their studies at the subsidised rate. No such provision will be made for new students except for those from developing countries assisted under overseas aid programmes.
