HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 cc558-9W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if the Supplementary Benefits Commission has used the powers under section 25 of the National Assistance Act 1948, over local authorities requiring an old person to be admitted to part 3 accommodation; and, if so, on how many occasions.

Mr. Prentice

The Supplementary Benefits Commission never invoked its powers under section 25 of the National Assistance Act 1948. Its predecessors, the National Assistance Board, did so on only one occasion (in 1950). Section 25 of the National Assistance Act was repealed by the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977.
