asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will consider Merseyside Docklands as the site for the first combined heat and power scheme, thereby ensuring that the lead city required by the Marshall report is in a development area.

In reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Derbyshire, South-East (Mr. Rost) on 2 April, I set out the Government's proposals on the development of combined heat and power in the United Kingdom. The con- sideration of the suitability of particular sites is premature at this stage.
