HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 c445W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether a final decision has been taken in his Department concerning whether the new A55 crossing of the River Conwy will be by bridge or tunnel; if not, when such a decision will be taken; what further statutory procedures will be required in either case, respectively; what is the latest estimated cost of the two alternatives; and what is the implication of each on the completion time for dualling this road between Chester and Bangor.

Mr. Michael Roberts

We have only recently received the report from the consultants on the feasibility of alternative tunnel crossings; it is currently being examined. Until the report has been studied we cannot make any pronouncements about timings or costs.
