§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, in the light of the fact that almost every Department now takes a month or more to reply to any letter from hon. Members and longer to members of the general public, whether he will take steps to improve the speed of replies.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasI do not know how accurate are the figures which the hon. Member quotes, but I am quite sure that my ministerial colleagues, on whom rests the responsibility for replying to correspondence, are already well aware of the need to respond as promptly as possible.
