HC Deb 03 April 1980 vol 982 cc352-3W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what have been the losses to date on flying the Concorde aircraft.

Mr. Tebbit

British Airways' Concorde operations commenced on 21 January 1976. From that date to 31 March 1979 the airline's total losses on Concorde operations amounted to £30.5 million after charging full depreciation for the years to 31 March 1978. In accordance with the new financial arrangements for Concorde announced on 22 February 1979, Concorde aircraft and spares were entered in British Airways' accounts as a fully depreciated asset in respect of the airline's financial year ended 31 March 1979.

British Airways' Concorde operating results for 1979–80 are not yet available.
