§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which bodies have commented on the Keohane committee's report on proposals for a certificate of extended education since it was published; and if he will indicate the kind of comments he has received.
§ Dr. BoysonThe Schools Council, the local authority associations, teacher associations, the school examination boards and further education examining bodies, the CBI and the TUC have all commented on this Report. A little over half the replies received generally support the introduction of a CEE as recommended by the Keohane Group. The remainder are either opposed on education grounds to the underlying philosophy of a single subject examination with no necessary vocational bias, or question the wisdom of inaugurating a separate new examination alongside existing examinations for a similar target group who follow pre-employment courses in further education.
