§ Mr. BrittanIn 1978 the average daily population of persons serving sentences of imprisonment of 18 months or less in 225W prison department establishments in England and Wales was 12,679. The provisional figure for 1979 is 12,730. Information on the average daily population of prison Department establishments in England and Wales in 1979 by type of prisoner will be published later this year in "Prison Statistics England and Wales" —table 1.2 of the volume for 1978, Cmnd. 7626.
