§ Sir George YoungThe following voluntary sample surveys, which are held independently of the census, give information on the main ethnic minorities: the general household survey which is addressed to 15,000 private households a year in Great Britain; the biennial labour force survey which is addressed to about 90,000 private households in the264W United Kingdom; and the national dwelling and housing survey carried out in the period 1977 to 1979 which was addressed to about 1 million private households in England and Wales. In addition, relevant information is provided by the statistics of registrations of births and deaths and statistics of migrants from the control of immigration and from the international passenger survey.
