§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for the Environment why the study group set up to select sites for the proposed third London airport did not include a representative of the Nature Conservancy Council; why the Council was not consulted in time for its members to submit detailed ecological information; and at what stage before making a final decision he proposes inviting a submission from the Council.
§ Mr. TebbitI have been asked to reply.
The membership and terms of reference of the study group were established by the previous Government. I understand that in preparing its report the study group has taken account of some material made available to it by the Nature Conservancy Council. The Government will 576W consider any further information provided by the Council.
