§ Mr. Wilkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will bring forward the construction programme for the air defence variant of the Tornado and order extra Tornado F2 interceptors to re-equip the additional Lightning squadron which is currently being formed.
§ Mr. PattieThese are amongst the options currently being studied for improving the air defence of the United Kingdom. The studies have not yet reached the point where decisions can be taken, but I can assure my hon. Friend that they are proceeding as quickly as the many complex issues permit.
