§ Mr. PymThe Warsaw Pact enjoys a marked numerical superiority in manpower and equipment. Progressive improvements allow the Warsaw Pact to maintain and enhance its forces well in excess of those required for defence. In face of this continuing expansion NATO member Governments are taking steps to maintain the credibility of Alliance deterrence.
