HC Deb 30 October 1979 vol 972 cc512-3W
Mrs. Faith

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has received the report of the motor industry research association on the vehicle characteristics required by invalid three-wheeler users; and what action he proposes to take on the matter.

Mr. Prentice

I have received the report, and have sent copies to those chiefly interested asking for their views, and have had copies placed in the Library, I shall want to study the report myself and to take account of the reactions of others before I commit myself to any action.

What I can say now is that the invalid three-wheeler fleet seems to be holding up very well, and the problems of its replacement will probably not have to be faced for several years. When we can no longer provide replacements we intend that drivers shall not be immobilised as a result, unless in the individual case increasing disability has made this inevitable.
