asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what guidance he has given to local education authorities about arranging the school day in a single session.

My right hon. and learned Friend has not issued any guidance to local education authorities about arranging the school day in a single session. Section 23 of the Education Act 1944 provides for the organisation of the school day to be under the control of local education authorities, or the governors in the case of a voluntary aided secondary school.
