§ 30. Mr. Armstrongasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many primary schools in the Northern region have fewer than 50 pupils on roll; how many are under consideration for closure; and what criteria he uses in deciding their future.
§ Dr. BoysonProvisional figures for January 1979 indicate 151 primary schools in the Northern region with 50 or fewer full-time pupils on roll. Proposals for closure have been submitted to 127W my right hon. and learned Friend in respect of three of these. In reaching his decision on each proposal he will consider the relative educational, social and economic factors, together with any objections received.
