§ Mr. Farrasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the situation at Gartree prison, Leicestershire, relating to the renovation of the wings which were damaged in the last riot; and when he expects that the prison will once again be fully operational.
§ Mr. BrittanThe repair of the two wings still out of action includes improvements to security and control and is expected to be completed by mid-1980. Similar improvements will then be made in the two wings currently in use and should be completed by the end of 1981. The build-up of the population will be kept under review in the light of experience.
