§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, in view of the proposals by Her Majesty's Government to list central Government restrictions on local authorities, including the controls in the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964, whether he proposes to take steps to maintain the continuation of the free library service provided by local authorities.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasThe two amendments to the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964 proposed in "Central Government Controls over Local Authorities", Cmnd. 7634, do not affect the existing right to borrow books free of charge.
