§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will oppose in the Council of Ministers the proposal of the EEC Commission to raise the ceiling on loans from Euratom for nuclear projects from £335 million to £670 million, pending a thorough reappraisal by the EEC of policy on nuclear power.
§ Mr. Norman LamontThe European Council meeting on 21–22 June of this year agreed that nuclear programmes in the Community must be given fresh impetus. I therefore see no reason for the Council to make any further reappraisal of the Community's nuclear policy before deciding on the Commission's proposal to raise the ceiling on Euratom loans from 500 to 1,500 million units of account.
