§ Mr. John Grantasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether the Government have now decided to set up a national economic forum;
(2) if, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Islington Central, Official Report, 25 July, column 295, he will list the possible ways to achieve more open and informed discussion of economic trends and objectives which are under consideration.
§ Sir Geoffrey Howe[pursuant to his reply, 26 November 1979]: The Government wish to promote a more open and informed discussion of economic matters by all available means. These include Parliament and Select Committees, the National Economic Development Council and its committees, as indicated by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 13 November—[Vol. 973, c. 1149]—and the contacts my colleagues and I have with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
