§ Lord AVEBURYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, under the new Rules, the wives of overseas students already given 391WA leave to enter employment in the United Kingdom will be able to renew their leave to remain without restrictions on employment.
§ Lord BELSTEADThe Government will be prepared to consider on the basis of the present Rules applications for further stay from students' wives who were admitted before the new Rules take effect. Any extensions granted in those circumstances would continue to be without restriction on the wife's employment.
