asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total number of patients waiting to enter hospitals in the Wolverhampton area; and if he will list the hospitals and the operations required.

The number of patients on in-patient waiting lists at 30 September 1979 in hospitals administered by the Wolverhampton area health authority were as follows:

amount of public financial assistance given to the different sectors of the British textile industry since 1970 shown on an annual basis.

It would involve disproportionate cost to provide a completely comprehensive reply in the form requested. However, the following information is readily available in respect of assistance under sections 7 and 8 of the Industry Act 1972, regional development grant, temporary employment subsidy, and short time working compensation.
