HC Deb 27 November 1979 vol 974 c635W
Mr. Frank R. White

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what proposals he has for renewing the trade treaties with COMECON countries; and particularly what are his proposals in respect of renewals for textiles, footwear and paper.

Mr. Parkinson

The conclusion or renewal of trading agreements or treaties concerning trade with the CMEA countries is a matter for the European Economic Community acting together under the common commercial policy. Existing restrictions on imports of textiles and footwear from CMEA countries are expected to continue during 1980. There are no quantitative restrictions on the imports of paper.
