HC Deb 27 November 1979 vol 974 cc634-5W
Mr. John Home Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give an estimate of how many farmers in Scotland are in possession of the 1979 edition of "Approved Products for Farmers and Growers" published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; and what proportion of the total number of farmers this represents.

Mr. Wiggin

I have been asked to reply.

So far some 12,000 copies of this publication have been sold in the United Kingdom. No realistic estimates are available concerning the proportion reaching individual farmers. However, the matter is one on which the Government and the various industrial organisations concerned are at present considering the case for joint studies, as lately recommended by the Royal Commission on environmental pollution.
