HC Deb 27 November 1979 vol 974 c610W
Mr. Stott

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment in view of the year that has elapsed since the inquiry into the extension of opencast coal at the Albert colliery site in Hindley Green, Wigan, if he will now give his decision whether to allow opencast coal mining to proceed or not.

Mr. Fox

The decision on the appeal by the National Coal Board relating to the continued use of the Albert opencast coal disposal point was issued on 26 November. The decision grants permission for retention of the disposal point for five years.
