HC Deb 26 November 1979 vol 974 c423W
46. Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what is the subsidy paid on meals in the Press Gallery in the last available year, the number of meals served and the subsidy per meal.

Mr. Charles Irving

I have been asked to reply.

With regard to the loss on Press Gallery catering, I refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Keighley (Mr. Cryer) on 14 November [Vol. 973, c. 669]. Fifty meals are served daily in the press dining room. There are no facilities for checking accurately, but approximately 300 covers are served daily in the cafeteria.
