§ Mr. Woolmerasked the Secretary of State for Trade if a full report was made to the meeting of the EEC Council on 20 November concerning American dual energy pricing policy and feedstock prices; what were the main recommendations for action; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NottI participated in a full discussion of this subject with the Commission and my EEC colleagues on 20 November. The Council agreed that the Commission should seek immediate consultations with the United States under article XXIII of the GATT. This represents an important step forward, but I have emphasised that we expect these consultations to proceed as a matter of urgency.
