§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandAs the hon. Member will be aware, the trend in crime rose to a peak in 1977 but fell over the next year. There are at present no plans to give fresh instructions to the procurator fiscal service regarding prosecution policy in the light of the Scottish crime figures for 1978. However, it should not be thought that the procurator fiscal service is complacent as a result of these figures. There will be no slackening of the effort to bring offenders to justice.
