Mr. Ted Fletcherasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many days were lost in industrial disputes in the six months ended 1 May; and how many days were lost in the six months period ended 31 October.
§ Mr. Mayhew8.9 million working days were lost in industrial stoppages in the six months ended 30 April 1979. For the five months ended 30 September 1979, the figure is 17.2 million, three-quarters of which is accounted for by the recent engineering strike. Figures for October are not yet available.
