§ Mr. MacfarlaneIt is my right hon. and learned Friend's policy to encourage a closer relationship between education and industry at all levels and by all possible means. Whilst the Department has no direct control over the curriculum of initial teacher training courses or over local education authorities' priorities in in-service training, it maintains the closest links with the voluntary agencies in this field, such as the CBI and the Industrial Society, and with the industry/education unit of the Department of Industry. In recent months I have met representatives of several interested organisations in this field.
