Mr. Ted Fletcherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why two geriatric wards at Greenbank hospital are to be closed and the patients transferred to the sixth floor of a tower block in the Memorial hospital, Darlington, and why the Durham area health authority and the Darlington community health council were not consulted.
§ Dr. VaughanDiscussions have already taken place with the Darlington community health council about the possible use of surplus accommodation at the Darlington Memorial hospital for geriatric patients from Greenbank hospital. The Durham area health authority intends to issue a consultation document on the proposed changes of use in the near future.
