§ Mr. McQuarrieasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will consider assuming responsibility for the Decca navigation chains which have been laid in British waters and thus relieve the fishing industry of the increasing costs for the maintenance of these chains.

Friend does not consider that it would be appropriate for him to assume responsibility for this commercially operated system, which is used by many vessels other than fishing boats. It must be for the individual fishing boat operator to decide, in the light of his particular circumstances, whether use of the system is worth while.
