§ Dr. Mawhinneyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will implement the recommendation in paragraph 77 of the fifteenth report from the Expenditure Committee, Session 1977–78, that provision of regional secure units should be made as a matter of urgency.
§ Dr. VaughanThe Government accept the recommendation on regional secure units in this report. We recognise that578W there is an urgent need for secure psychiatric units to be established in each region and are continuing to press for these to be treated as a priority by the health authorities concerned.
