HC Deb 12 November 1979 vol 973 c460W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Minister of Transport whether he proposes to authorise any further reductions in the rail network; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Fowler

I have always made it clear that I see no case for massive cuts in the passenger network. I have reiterated my general policy on rail passenger closures most recently in a letter to the chairman of the British Railways Board. I have placed a copy of that letter in the Library.
