§ Mr. Peter Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many members of the Army have been killed or injured in Northern Ireland while on duty; and how many have been killed or injured off duty as a result of terrorist incidents since 1968.
§ Mr. Hayhoe321 members of the Regular Army and Royal Marines have been killed and 3,351 injured whilst serving in Northern Ireland. Of those killed, 18 are recorded as having been off duty at the time. The injury statistics cannot be provided in the detail requested without disproportionate effort.

§ Mr. HayhoeIn the past six months members of the Army in Northern Ireland have been fired at on 81 occasions. Fire was returned on 22 occasions. Two civilians were killed and six injured in the course of Army operations, but the statistics do not differentiate terrorists from other civilians.
