HC Deb 12 November 1979 vol 973 c397W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what discussions he has had about compensation with authorities which had incurred expenditure in preparation for Civil Service dispersal which the Government have now cancelled; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Channon

During the recent review of the dispersal programme I received a number of local authority delegations, some of which mentioned expenditure incurred or committed. I understand that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment is considering a claim for compensation from the Middlesbrough borough council.
