HC Deb 12 November 1979 vol 973 cc437-8W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has completed the review of benefits for disabled people mentioned in the reply by the Under-Secretary of State, the hon. Member for Wallasey (Mrs. Chalker), to the hon. Member for Northampton, North (Mr. Marlow) Official Report, 27 June, columns 969 and 203; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Prentice

No formal review of benefits for disabled people in general is being carried out by the Department, although we are keeping a continuing watch on the workings of such benefits with a view to their improvement or extension when resources permit. Work is also continuing on the review of benefits for the industrially disabled which were announced by our predecessors in office: the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council is reviewing the schedule of prescribed industrial diseases, and officials are conducting a study of the industrial injuries scheme as a whole. But, as I have already made clear to the House, the

in life and yet is found to be present at post mortem. If the hon. Member knows of any particular cases I shall be glad to look into them.
