HC Deb 12 November 1979 vol 973 c465W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many district councils have submitted formal plans to the Scottish development department for council house sales since May of this year; and what has been the Scottish development department's decision in each case.

Mr. Rifkind

Since May of this year district councils have had a general consent to sell council houses to sitting tenants. There is no requirement for them to submit plans. I understand that at least 30 housing authorities have adopted a policy in favour of selling council houses.
