HC Deb 12 November 1979 vol 973 cc468-9W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secetary of State for Scotland whether he has any plans to reduce the number and complexity of building regulations, especially in their application to rural areas.

Mr. Rifkind

The Building Standards (Scotland) Regulations are under continuing review and a set of consolidated regulations with amendments is being prepared. These will reduce the complexity of the present controls on day-lighting. Consideration will be given to further simplification consistent with the maintenance of adequate standards of construction, health and safety.
