§ Sir Nicholas Bonsorasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied that no hardship will result from the delay in completing the negotiations regarding a pay settlement for those involved in university education currently being considered by the university authority's panel.
§ Dr. BoysonI expect that any payments agreed to be appropriate for university teachers with effect from the normal date of their pay settlement—that is, 1 October 1979—will be made retrospectively. I hope that it will be possible to resume negotiations soon.
