§ Mr. Marlowasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will list the sanctions currently in force against Zimbabwe-Rhodesia, setting out which country or institution has the authority to renew or remove each sanction.
§ Mr. LuceIt would not be practicable to provide detailed information in the form requested by my hon. Friend. Following the adoption by the United 293W Nations Security Council of a number of resolutions calling for sanctions against Southern Rhodesia—in particular Security Council resolution 235 (1968) providing for comprehensive economic sanctions—the United Kingdom and other countries have adopted measures to that end. The obligations to maintain these measures derive from the United Nations charter and the relevant resolutions, and such measures may be terminated by the countries concerned when the resolutions cease to be applicable.
