§ 38. Mr. Hal Millerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what discussions he has held with the motor industry and trade about changes in the tax treatment of motor vehicles ranging from heavy lorries to company cars.
§ Mr. LawsonOfficials from the Treasury, Inland Revenue and Department of Industry have had discussions with representatives of the industry about the matters raised in the Inland Revenue's consultative paper on the taxation of cars and petrol as benefits in kind. There have also been discussions about the consultative document on changing the basis of vehicle excise duty on heavy lorries.
