§ Mr. Squireasked the Minister of Transport, further to the answer given to the hon. Member for Hornchurch on 25 May in connection with the £10 charge for annual medical certificates, whether the level of this charge is fixed by the Government or by the British Medical Association.
§ Dr. VaughanI have been asked to reply.
The fee charged for providing a medical certificate for private purposes is primarily for the doctor to decide. While the BMA gives guidance to its members from time to time on the reasonable level of fees, doctors are not bound to follow this advice.
