268Wmust be taken into account. Following technical discussions, the Government and the National Coal Board have agreed that substantial savings in time and money would be achieved by building the two pilot plants on a common site with shared facilities.
After a study of 15 sites put forward by the NCB areas, the Government and the NCB have decided that the most suitable is at the Point of Ayre colliery in North Wales.
The Government expect to receive the report of the design study in the spring of 1980. They will then consider a commitment to construction work in the light of the cost estimates contained in that report.
