§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade what agreement has been negotiated between the EEC and Morocco on textiles, as reported in the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce magazine, July 1979 issue; and if he will make a statement on the effect of this agreement on the United Kingdom textile industry.
§ Mr. ParkinsonAn arrangement under which Morocco has undertaken to exercise voluntary restraint on the export of certain textile products to the EEC was concluded in January this year. It will cover the three years 1979, 1980 and 1981. The effect will be to increase the protection afforded to the United Kingdom industry from low-cost imports.
