§ Mr. MacfarlaneThe Medical Research Council has conducted research into the bacterial contamination of traditional weaning foods compared with 9W powdered baby milk in a rural environment in West Africa. The risk of contamination was found to be similar for each type of food. A study revealed the primary problem to be the quality of the water supply and the prevailing state of hygiene, not the nature of the food.
