§ Mr. Spellerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make provision to allow dental surgeons who have retired from full time National Health Service employment to earn more than £660 gross per annum before their pension is abated.
§ Dr. VaughanThe NHS pension of a retired dental surgeon is not affected by any earnings outside the NHS after retirement. There is provision in the NHS superannuation scheme however for pension to be abated in respect of earnings in the NHS after retirement. The relevant rule provides that pension and earnings together should not be more than average earnings in a dental surgeon's best three consecutive years.
